Woman’s Body Found by Fertilizer Company Employee in Illinois River

Peoria, IL – A woman’s body was discovered in the Illinois River near the 8700 block of Cargill Road on Friday afternoon.

According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, an employee of Mosaic Fertilizer found the body around 1:45 p.m., approximately 20 feet from the shore. Authorities believe the woman had been in the river for at least 24 hours. 

The identity and cause of death are still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to contact Detective Demery at 309-216-4775 or submit a tip through CrimeStoppers or the Sheriff’s App.
