Early Thursday Morning Meth Bust Nets Significant Drug Seizure in Springfield

Springfield, IL – An extensive narcotics investigation led by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction and Response Team (DIRT) culminated in a significant drug bust early Thursday morning. Jamaar M. Moore, a 28-year-old resident of Springfield, was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his home in the 2300 block of Austin Drive.

According to reports the raid, carried out at approximately 6:01 AM on April 25, 2024, led to the seizure of around 366 grams of methamphetamine. The operation was part of a broader investigation involving multiple controlled purchases from Moore, totaling approximately 330 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Authorities reported that the arrest was conducted without any injuries. In addition to the methamphetamine, law enforcement officers confiscated $3,500 in cash, three cellphones, a small amount of cannabis, suspected fentanyl, and Moore’s 2020 Hyundai sedan.

Currently on federal probation for prior offenses, Moore faces several charges, including manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, and possession of methamphetamine in the 100-400 gram range. He remains in custody at the Sangamon County Jail.
