Will County, IL – Local Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash with Tree

Wilmington, IL – In a devastating early morning accident, a Will County man was killed when his vehicle struck a tree. 

The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, on South Indian Trail Road near Goodwin Road in Wilmington. The Will County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 63-year-old John Wandless of Wilmington, who was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.

Wandless was pronounced dead on Monday, following the crash. An autopsy was also completed on Monday, April 29th. The Will County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The final cause and manner of death are pending further results from police investigations, the autopsy, and toxicological reports.
