Lockport, IL – The investigation into the alleged attempted murder by John P. Shadbar continues in Will County. On May 9, 2024, Shadbar faced multiple charges at his arraignment, including Attempted First-Degree Murder and Hate Crime, following a shooting incident on May 7 that left a 45-year-old woman critically injured. The incident occurred in unincorporated Lockport, Homer Township, and resulted in Shadbar being held without bond.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Department, a search at Shadbar’s residence post-incident led to the discovery and seizure of multiple weapons, including two AK-47 style rifles and a shotgun. The authorities believe one of these rifles was used in the shooting. There were no previous neighbor complaints between Shadbar and the victim prior to 2024, despite several minor calls this year regarding disputes between the two, culminating in the shooting. Shadbar’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 23, 2024, at the Will County Courthouse.
