Woman Exiting Vehicle Fatally Struck on Dan Ryan Expressway, Causes Traffic Diversion

Chicago, IL – A woman lost her life on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 18th Street after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning.  

According to Illinois State Police, the incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. and involved the woman exiting a vehicle involved in a minor crash. Following this, she was hit by another vehicle, not related to the initial accident.

The accident has led to significant traffic disruptions. As investigations continue, all southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway have been closed, with vehicles being diverted onto the Stevenson Expressway. Authorities are working diligently to understand the sequence of events leading up to this fatal incident.

As the situation unfolds, drivers in the area are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays. The identity of the woman and details of the involved parties have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
