Fort Wayne, IN – Residents Brace for Floods as Heavy Rains Loom

Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana faces a flood watch effective tonight through early Friday as heavy rainfall is anticipated across the region. 

According to the National Weather Service warns of storm total rainfall amounts ranging from 1.5 to 2 inches, with possibilities of 2 to 3 inches in localized areas. This deluge, arriving on already saturated soils, sets the stage for potential flooding later this week, along with rising area rivers.

Heaviest rainfall is expected from tonight through midday Thursday, with a few thunderstorms also possible. High winds are forecasted for late Thursday into Friday, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. While the flood watch is in place through early Friday, river flooding concerns may extend into early next week. Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to remain alert and follow safety guidelines.
