Indiana Battery Incident, Gunshots Lead to Tense Hours Long Standoff, Suspect Remains At Large

MERRILLVILLE, IN – A battery incident on W 78th Avenue spiraled into a standoff on Tuesday evening. 

According to Merrillville Police, officers arrived to find a female victim in distress. The situation escalated with a gunshot, prompting the urgent intervention of MTAS (Merrillville Tactical Apprehension Squad). Despite intense hours of negotiation, the assailant successfully evaded capture. 

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.  Anyone with information is advised to contact Merrillville detectives.
