Indianapolis, Indiana – Indiana has reported its first pediatric flu-related death of the winter season, as announced by the Indiana Department of Health.
The victim, a child between 6 months and 23 months old, was confirmed as the state’s first young victim of the influenza virus this year. Details such as the child’s gender and specific location remain undisclosed. The latest update, which also included four new adult deaths, brings Indiana’s total flu fatalities to 10 this season, all others being over 50 years old.
Nationally, the CDC reports at least 14 pediatric flu-related deaths. The Indiana Department of Health continues to monitor and report on the flu situation statewide.
