Suspect in Illinois Murder Case Arrested, Extradited from Crown Point, Indiana

PEORIA, IL – The Peoria Police Department has made a significant development in a homicide case dating back to February 2023. 

According to investigators on November 9, 2023, Donte T. Agnew, a 21-year-old suspect in the case, was extradited to Peoria County following his arrest in Crown Point, Indiana. He faces alleged charges of First Degree Murder and is currently held at the Peoria County Jail. The police’s efforts to apprehend the second suspect, Torreon Carey, are ongoing. 

The case, initially reported in February after an adult male was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound, remains under active investigation. The victim in the case later died due to injuries sustained in the shooting.  

The Peoria Police Department continues to seek information from the public regarding Carey’s whereabouts and emphasizes he is considered armed and dangerous.
