Dyer, IN – Beginning mid-April, travelers through Dyer, Indiana will face significant traffic disruptions due to scheduled lane closures along U.S. Route 30. According to the Indiana Department of Transportation: Northwest, starting on or after April 15 and continuing through mid-May, alternating lane closures will occur on U.S. 30 between the Illinois State Line and U.S. 41.
The closures are necessary to carry out a comprehensive concrete restoration project, including full depth patching and joint repairs, along with preventative maintenance on the bridge deck overlay of the Plum Creek bridge located between Hart St and Moeller St.
During phase one, both the left passing and left turn lanes will be closed in both directions, impacting daily commutes and local traffic patterns. Motorists are advised to prepare for changing traffic patterns and potential delays, particularly during rush hour. INDOT encourages drivers to allow for extra travel time or to seek alternative routes where possible.
The maintenance work is part of a larger initiative to improve road safety and infrastructure quality in the region. Updates on traffic changes and work progress will be provided as the project moves forward.
