Highland Standoff Ends Peacefully After Man Threatens Self, Wife

HIGHLAND, IN – Tensions soared Friday evening when an alleged domestic dispute escalated into a standoff with the Northwest Regional SWAT Team. 

According to Highland Police Department it began at 5:00pm when a woman reported her husband’s alarming actions, saying he aimed a gun at her before threatening himself. 

Though she managed to escape unharmed, officers arriving at the Hart Road residence were faced with an unresponsive male, hiding inside their garage. After intense moments, the 44-year-old man emerged, surrendering to SWAT. Inside the garage, another man claimed he was trying to help. 

The primary suspect is now hospitalized for mental evaluation, with charges pending. No injuries were reported.
