Hobart, IN – Hobart Police have detained 27-year-old Estefany Sierra Rios following a concerning report made on April 29 by a local father, who discovered inappropriate communications between Rios and his adolescent child.
According to Hobart police reports, the father’s report included allegations of Rios sending explicit images via text and Snapchat and engaging in unprotected sexual activity with the minor last fall, a situation complicated by Rios’s reported sexually transmitted virus.
On May 3, Hobart detectives, with the support of Chicago Police, apprehended Rios in Chicago. In custody, Rios acknowledged the relationship with the minor, claiming emotional involvement.
Charged with three counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor and one count of Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors in Lake County Superior Court, Rios is held at Cook County Jail awaiting extradition. As the investigation proceeds, the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office has indicated that additional charges could be forthcoming.
