Munster Resident Reports Altered Checks After Using Post Office Drop Box

MUNSTER, IN – A Munster resident encountered fraud after using the local post office’s drop box on November 13th at 6:44 PM. 

According to Munster Police reports the individual reported placing two bills in the drop box, only to later discover they were still unpaid. Investigations revealed the checks were altered to show higher payments and were made out to different individuals. Such incidents are under scrutiny by the US Postal Inspectors. 

Residents are advised to frequently review bank statements for discrepancies in check amounts and to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
