Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis residents are bracing for a potent storm system as the National Weather Service forecasts 1 to 2 inches of rainfall and gusty conditions through early Friday. The Indianapolis area is particularly vigilant for Thursday afternoon when the storms could bring not only heavy rain but also strong winds and small hail.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts may reach up to 40 mph on Thursday and Friday, raising concerns about isolated flooding and hazardous travel conditions. While scattered thunderstorms are set to continue moving northeast, officials warn of lightning risks and advise that people seek shelter when hearing thunder. With storms poised to intensify by late today, citizens are urged to stay alert and prioritize safety.
