LOGANSPORT, Ind. — The aggressive pit bull involved in the fatal attack on 89-year-old Beverly Hayden has been located and captured.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, a resident living about a half-mile north of Hayden’s residence reported seeing the dog at 9:06 PM. A deputy, along with members of Hayden’s family, quickly responded to the scene and secured the dog without further incident.
The canine, described as a one-hundred-pound black pit bull with a white chest, was initially at large following the attack in the early morning of December 6. The successful capture brings some relief to the community, which had been on alert since the incident.
The Cass County Animal Control officer has transported the dog to a local veterinarian’s office for quarantine. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and encourages anyone with additional information to contact them at 574-753-7800.
