Mississippi Inmate Dies in Indiana Jail, Investigation Underway by State Police

Brownstown, IN – Indiana State Police are currently investigating the death of a Mississippi man at Jackson County Jail on Tuesday evening. Antonio D. Fox, 35, of Jackson, Mississippi, reportedly collapsed while interacting with jail staff around 5:15 PM and later died at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana.

According to the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, Fox was alone in his cell when he suddenly fell ill. Jail personnel promptly attempted life-saving measures until Jackson County EMS arrived to assist. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has requested a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Fox’s death.

An autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow in Hamilton County, Ohio. The findings will be forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The Jackson County Coroner’s Office is also assisting in the investigation. The family of Antonio Fox has been notified of his passing.
