Pine Township, IN – A critical two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Ardendale Ave. in Pine Township, Indiana, led to a dramatic rescue operation from a water-filled ditch.

One victim was airlifted with serious injuries following the accident, which involved a 2017 Nissan SUV and a 2009 Dodge Ram. The Porter County Sheriff’s Police report that the Nissan SUV, traveling north on Ardendale Ave., collided with the Dodge Ram moving west on U.S. 20, causing both vehicles to plunge into the nearby ditch.

Rescue efforts were intensified as emergency teams, including the Chesterton, Porter, Burns Harbor, and Pines fire departments, worked to safely extract the victims from the submerged vehicles. The female passenger in the Nissan was airlifted to a South Bend hospital, while the drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals.

The Porter County Sheriff’s Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the cause of the accident.
