Porter County, IN – Motorists in Porter County are advised of an impending closure on the eastbound lane of U.S. 12, expected to last for two weeks starting Monday, May 6. The closure is necessary for the installation of structural steel on State Road 249.
As an alternative, eastbound traffic will be rerouted to southbound State Road 249 with a recommended detour using U.S. 20 and State Road 149. Access to eastbound U.S. 12 will remain open from northbound State Road 249.
The area had previously experienced a shutdown for a separate urgent repair, but the timing of the projects did not align to facilitate both repairs concurrently. Commuters should plan for possible delays and consider alternate routes during the construction period.
