Fatal Collision on US 35 in Wayne County Involving Semi-truck and Car

Richmond, Indiana – A fatal collision occurred on US 35 at the intersection with Davis Meyers Road, involving a passenger car and a semi-truck. 

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened early Saturday just before 8 a.m. When the victim, identified by authorities as Carolyn Legg, 35, from Muncie, was driving southbound on US 35 in a 2011 Honda Accord when she collided with a northbound tri-axle dump truck. Preliminary investigation suggests that sun glare and electronic device use may have contributed to the accident.

Ms. Legg unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the truck driver was hospitalized for injuries and a mandatory toxicology screen. 

The road was closed for investigation but reopened around 12:00 pm. The Sheriff’s Office extends condolences to Ms. Legg’s family and friends and acknowledges the assistance of local emergency services in managing the incident. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
