BEECHER, IL – Firefighters battled a fierce barn fire Sunday in the 1600 block of E. Eagle Lake Rd, resulting in the tragic loss of four horses.

According to Beecher Fire reports an emergency call received at around 3:37 pm, prompted an immediate response from the fire crew, who found a large agricultural building engulfed in flames. Fire Chief Joseph Falaschetti reported that despite the efforts of firefighters along with the homeowners, only one horse and two dogs could be rescued.

Logistical challenges plagued the emergency with the nearest hydrant located nearly 3 miles away from the blaze, resulting in multiple area agencies reporting to the scene.
