Momence, IL – The community of Momence gathered this weekend to bid a heartfelt farewell to 14-year-old Amari Crite, a freshman at Momence High School.

Amari, who tragically collapsed and passed away during a basketball game on January 25th, was laid to rest in a ceremony marked by deep community support and poignant tributes.

According to her family, the funeral service for Amari included a white carriage procession to the cemetery and the release of doves at her gravesite, symbolizing peace and the community’s love. This touching tribute was made possible by the outpouring of support from around the world, with a GoFundMe campaign raising over $53,000 from 851 donors, far exceeding the initial $15,000 goal.

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the cause of death.
