Tell City, IN – A woman who called police to report her boyfriend’s shooting, has been charged with his murder in Tell City, Indiana.

On the night of February 3rd, officers from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Tell City Police Department rushed to the scene following Coomer’s 911 call. They found Tonya Coomer and her  boyfriend, Aaron Waninger, unresponsive, and despite life-saving attempts, he was pronounced dead.

Indiana State Police, who took over the investigation, arrested Coomer after delving deeper into the case. Currently held without bond at Perry County jail, she faces a Level 1 Felony charge for murder and a Level 5 Felony for Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm. The investigation remains active, with an autopsy scheduled for Waninger.

Coomer’s arrest, initially the informant of the incident, adds a complex layer to this tragic case. Indiana State Police, alongside local law enforcement and EMS, continue their investigation. Coomer is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
