BOURBONNAIS – Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53 (BESD53) school officials are reporting students at Liberty Intermediate School and the Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center (BUGC) will not return to in-person learning at least until December 7th.

The announcement was made by Superintendent Dr. Adam Ehrman Monday morning.

“Unfortunately, we can not properly staff those schools at this time as a result of our strict Covid-19 safety protocols which require isolating individuals for periods of time. We will need to push back the date to return to in-person learning to December 7th.” Dr. Ehrman said in a statement Monday.

The District will review the situation again December 3rd.

BUGC first utilized an ‘Adaptive Pause’ on November 12th with hopes to return to in-person learning November 30th. Liberty had become the first school in the District to move to remote learning November 9th after a ‘COVID-19 situation’ has arisen at the school.
