Bloomington, IL – Bloomington Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify “Leap Year Bandit”

Bloomington, IL – The Bloomington Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a series of burglaries targeting commercial businesses. 

According to police reports, the early morning hours of Thursday, February 29, 2024, witnessed at least two individuals breaking into a business located on the 2400 block of S. Main St., Bloomington, IL. The suspect in question is described as a male, aged 18 to 25, with a medium build and a distinctive nose. Later the same day, the suspects allegedly struck again, this time at a similar commercial establishment in Urbana, IL.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or any related details to come forward. Contact Officer Hurt at 309-820-8888 or via email at ehurt@cityblm.org. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by texting 847411 with the keyword “BPDTIPS,” followed by the tip information. The case number to reference is 202402757.
