HIGHLAND PARK — A bomb threat at Red Oak Elementary triggered a massive police response and immediate evacuation.

North Shore School District 112 acted promptly, ensuring the safety of the Red Oak students by moving them to Sherwood Elementary. As the community grapples with concern, other district schools remain unaffected and are operating routinely.

Red Oak Lane, sandwiched between Ridge and Rosemary Roads, has been sealed off for thorough police investigations. Authorities and school officials urge residents to steer clear of the areas around both Red Oak and Sherwood Elementary.

Parents of NSSD112 students should expect a two-hour delay in school start times, with further updates to be dispatched via the City’s and NSSD 112’s official channels, including websites, social media, and email notifications.
