Residents in central and southeast Illinois are facing unseasonably cold temperatures today, with brisk northwest winds and a few rain and snow showers, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, IL.

A warming trend is forecasted for the weekend, with the next rain system expected to arrive by Sunday.
