Central Illinois: One-Year-Old Safe After Armed Home Invasion, Abduction, Wreck

Peoria, IL – A one-year-old child was safely recovered following an armed home invasion and abduction early Saturday morning, Peoria Police reported.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of W. Jeth Court at approximately 5:08 a.m., where a male suspect allegedly forced his way into a residence and abducted the child. The suspect’s vehicle was later found wrecked at Pioneer Parkway and University, but the child and suspect were not inside.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Orlandrius M. Mahaney, was found in the 7500 block of Miramar. The child was subsequently located safe and uninjured. Mahaney was arrested for Home Invasion, Child Abduction, Reckless Driving, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
