Chicago, IL – Residents in the Chicago area should prepare for a series of showers and storms starting late this afternoon and continuing through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The initial wave of scattered showers and potential storms is anticipated north of Interstate 80 later today. As the evening progresses, a more substantial influx of rain and storms is expected to sweep across the region, with the possibility of some storms intensifying to severe levels.

According to the National Weather Service, the overnight and morning rains could pave the way for another round of storms on Thursday afternoon or evening. However, this scenario remains less likely unless the earlier precipitation proves less disruptive than anticipated. Chicagoans and those in surrounding areas are advised to stay informed on weather updates and prepare for the incoming adverse weather conditions.
