Chicago, IL – According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, motorists in North Central Illinois should anticipate hazardous travel conditions due to areas of dense fog this morning, January 29, 2024. Visibility may drop to as low as half a mile in some areas, particularly along and west of the Fox Valley. The advisory, effective until 10 AM CST, warns of the possibility of freezing fog where temperatures are below 32 degrees, increasing the risk of slick spots on bridges and overpasses.

The NWS also forecasts a brief respite in foggy conditions this afternoon, followed by another round of precipitation tonight into Tuesday. While no significant accumulation is expected, a mix of rain and snow could affect the evening commute. The rest of the week promises above-average temperatures and dry conditions. Residents are advised to allow extra travel time and remain vigilant for sudden visibility changes.
