Chicago, IL -Severe thunderstorms are expected to sweep through the Chicago area later today, bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail up to one inch in diameter.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois, the storms are likely to develop in the afternoon and continue through early evening.
