Chicago, IL – Residents in the Chicago area should brace for an evening of tumultuous weather as the National Weather Service warns of imminent showers and scattered thunderstorms.

This weather event is poised to bring not just rain, but also the risk of severe storms capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds. The likelihood of these conditions has prompted advisories for the public to remain vigilant, particularly during the storm’s peak expected between 4 PM to 12 AM CST across the northern part of Illinois.

Today’s warmth, with highs soaring into the 70s, is set to be swiftly overtaken by a cold front this evening. The resultant shift will usher in cooler temperatures, making for a stark contrast to the day’s earlier mildness.
