Chicago Man, Discharged Patient, Arrested for Attacking Police Officer in Oak Park Hospital

Chicago, Illinois — A Chicago resident, Brandon T. Chapman, 38, faces charges of aggravated battery to a police officer following an incident at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. 

Chapman, who had been discharged, reportedly refused to leave the hospital. During the ensuing arrest, he allegedly attempted to disarm the officer by reaching for their holstered handgun before allegedly kicking them. According to police reports Chapman was later found in possession of a substance suspected to be cocaine, 

Chapman also had two outstanding warrants for related offenses. The charges against him include aggravated battery to a police officer and an attempt to disarm an officer.
