Crete Township, IL – Aspiring beekeepers have until February 14 to register for the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s “Introduction to Successful Beekeeping Workshop.”
According to Bob Bryerton, a program manager at Plum Creek Nature Center, now is the crucial time to prepare for beekeeping in the upcoming summer season. The workshop, scheduled from February 20 to March 26, offers six Tuesday evening sessions, primarily at Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township, with the final two sessions at Monee Reservoir Visitor Center.
The registration fee is $75, including the book “The Backyard Beekeeper” by Kim Flotum. Experienced beekeeper Mike Rusnak will lead the sessions, covering various aspects of beekeeping, from history and anatomy to hive management and honey production.
For those interested, further details and registration can be found on the Forest Preserve’s website at ReconnectWithNature.org under the Event Calendar. The program, designed for participants aged 18 and older, aims to provide comprehensive beekeeping education and even includes an optional field day for practical experience.
