Crown Point, IN – Police Recover Stolen Chicago Motorcycle After High-Speed Pursuit, Crash on I-65

Crown Point, IN – A Crown Point man was apprehended following a high-speed chase on Sunday, resulting in the recovery of a motorcycle stolen from Chicago.

According to Crown Point Police, the incident began at noon in the 1500 block of North Main Street when an officer observed a motorcycle speeding at 72 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, which continued to evade police at high speeds, utilizing wrong-way traffic lanes and running red lights.

The pursuit, which included a stretch on Interstate 65, ended on Interstate 80/94 after the motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck. The driver, identified as Gage Daniel Kirchhoff, 22, was transported to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus with injuries. Police confirmed the motorcycle was stolen from Chicago, and Kirchhoff was driving with a suspended license and no motorcycle endorsement.

Kirchhoff faces multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement and possession of stolen property. Further details are unavailable at this time.
