CHICAGO – Jon Ossoff has been projected by multiple outlets as the next Senator of Georgia, handing Democrats control of the Senate in a dramatic shift of power in the US.
The win comes hours after Democrat Raphael Warnock took control of his senate runoff earlier today over GOP Senator Kelly Loeffler.
The victory leaves Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris as a tie-breaking vote in a now 50-50 split Senate.
The news came while supporters of Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol building, setting in motion acts of insurrection in the US.
