Bristol, IL – ESPN has secured exclusive rights to the College Football Playoff (CFP) until 2032, further bolstering its position as a central hub for college football enthusiasts.
The new agreement, announced via ESPN Tuesday afternoon, includes a two-year extension of the current contract and a six-year expansion starting in the 2026-27 season. This will grant ESPN broadcast rights to the CFP National Championship on ABC, alongside its signature MegaCast presentation.
According to the released statements, ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro emphasized the strengthened bond between ESPN and college football, anticipating the expanded playoff format’s debut this fall. Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the CFP, highlighted the depth of coverage and the shared enthusiasm for the sport as keystones of the partnership.
The deal also introduces ABC as a broadcaster for the National Championship, diversifying viewing platforms and augmenting Disney Advertising’s sponsorship programs. This strategic move underscores ESPN’s dedication to remaining at the forefront of sports media and its commitment to enhancing the fan experience through comprehensive coverage and innovative broadcasts.
