Bluford, IL – Last night, a tragic collision involving an ATV and multiple vehicles led to a fatality.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 8:45 PM at the intersection of N. Markham Ln and E. Short Street. Daniel W. Montgomery, 34, from Bonnie, was ejected from his westbound Kawasaki ATV after colliding with a northbound 2018 Chevy SUV. Tragically, he was then struck by a southbound dark sedan, which subsequently fled the scene.
Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse pronounced Montgomery deceased at the location. In response, the sheriff’s office detective division, along with state police, took charge of the death investigation. Emergency units from Bluford Fire, Jefferson County Fire Protection District, and Litton Ambulance also attended the scene.
