Gary, IN – The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force has charged 21-year-old Elijah Caleb Porter for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Gary, Indiana. The incident, a drive-by shooting outside Power & Light Church, occurred on February 15, 2023.

According to the Gary Police Department, the investigation identified Porter, along with Dahvee Brunson and Kriston Barbee, Jr., both 18, as suspects in this tragic incident. The trio, purportedly affiliated with the 49th Avenue Boys Gang, faces charges that include murder, criminal gang enhancement, and firearm enhancement.

The Task Force’s investigation, which comprised detectives from multiple Indiana law enforcement agencies, unveiled the gang’s involvement in various crimes across Lake County, ranging from homicides to drug dealing and illegal firearm sales.
