MORRIS, Ill. – A Georgia resident lost their life in a tragic crash on an Illinois bridge early Monday.

According to police reports, Narciso Vela, 32, of Cumming, Georgia, was allegedly speeding at the time on Route 47 in Grundy County when his vehicle struck a double semi-truck operated by Antonio Kelsey, 40, of Jacksonville, Florida.

Vela died from his injuries after being airlifted to Loyola Medical Center.

Roy Ean, 46, a passenger in the semi-truck from Lauderhill, Florida, was injured and transported to Morris Hospital.

The crash, which authorities believe to be influenced by speed and alcohol, is under investigation by the Morris Police Department and Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
