Gurnee, IL – Child on Bike Sustains Minor Injuries After Collision with Jeep

Gurnee, IL – Early Monday morning, a vehicle-bicycle collision at the intersection of Washington Street and Almond Road in Gurnee resulted in minor injuries for a 12-year-old bicyclist.

The incident occurred around 7:35 AM, just before crossing guards were stationed for the day. According to the Gurnee Police Department, the child was riding northbound on Almond Road and attempted to cross the street against the “do not cross” signal when struck by a Jeep Compass. Emergency responders from the Gurnee Fire Department were quick to the scene, where they provided necessary care. The injured child was later taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for further evaluation.

Authorities have not issued any citations in relation to the accident but continue to urge both pedestrians and drivers to follow traffic signals and exercise caution during peak commuting hours to ensure safety.
