Hinsdale, IL – A brazen auto theft at a Hinsdale BP gas station raises community concern.

According to the Village of Hinsdale Police Department, the incident occurred on Monday at 11:15 A.M. Surveillance footage showed a suspect lurking nearby as the victim was refueling. Seizing the moment the victim returned the nozzle, the thief entered the unlocked passenger side and drove away north on York Road. The suspect had arrived in a dark SUV, which was stationed next to the victim’s vehicle minutes before the theft.

Local authorities recommend turning off vehicles while refueling and remaining vigilant, noting an uptick in similar crimes across the greater Chicagoland area.
