The Home Depot has launched a new virtual kids workshop on the gaming platform, Roblox, providing a chance for children to learn while building virtual projects.
The Virtual Kids Workshop on Roblox’s Redcliff City offers players a chance to collect materials and build projects such as a birdhouse, mini flower garden, or small car. The experience is inspired by The Home Depot’s in-person Kids Workshops, which provide hands-on learning opportunities for children to explore their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interaction.
The Home Depot’s move into the metaverse marks a new investment in the future of interconnected experiences and introduces a whole new generation to the joy of building and home improvement.
According to Molly Battin, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at The Home Depot, the Virtual Kids Workshop offers the familiarity of the company while combining it with the fun and discovery that Roblox is known for, inspiring more future doers by meeting them where they are.
To participate in the virtual experience, players will visit The Home Depot’s new virtual storefront in Redcliff City, where they will be greeted by a virtual store associate with an orange apron.
Players can choose one of three projects with varying difficulty levels and embark on a scavenger hunt to collect materials. Once they have collected all the materials, players can assemble their project in the dedicated Kids Workshops space and use it throughout the Redcliff City experience.
The Home Depot’s Virtual Kids Workshop is now open to the public, and unique codes can be redeemed in physical store locations during in-person Kids Workships on the first Saturday of every month, starting at 9 a.m.
