Kankakee Homeowner shoots intruder in leg who sought refuge after beating

KANKAKEE – A man is recovering this week after being shot in the leg by a homeowner while trying to seek refuge from a beating in a nearby home.

According to City Police, the incident happened around 4 am Sunday morning in the 100 block of E. Entrance Avenue. That’s when the intruder, a man in his 40s who reported being the guest of a nearby party at another home, was involved in a beating that lead him to flee on foot.

The victim reportedly attempted to find refuge in a nearby home, that’s when the homeowner reportedly shot the intruder in the leg.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner in the shooting.
