Homer Glen, IL – A shooting incident in Homer Glen, Illinois, led to the arrest of 28-year-old Dominic A. Chiarelli, the Will County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday. The event unfolded on Thursday night when deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 12000 Block of Longmeadow Lane.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 25-year-old male victim from Hickory Hills was involved in an argument inside a vehicle parked at Chiarelli’s residence. The altercation escalated, resulting in Chiarelli allegedly striking the victim with a pistol and shooting him once in the back. The victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury, sought help at a church parking lot near 167th Street and Wolf Road in Orland Park.

Responding officers established a perimeter around Chiarelli’s residence, leading to his arrest without incident. A search warrant executed at the residence led to the discovery of a Taurus G3 9mm handgun. The ammunition recovered matched that used in the shooting. Chiarelli faces charges including Aggravated Battery with a firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. He is currently held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility awaiting his court appearance.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the assistance of the Orland Park Police Department in aiding the victim.
