Homewood, IL – As Homewood welcomes the first day of spring, the local Public Works department is diligently ensuring the community’s creeks remain unobstructed.

According to the Village of Homewood, Illinois, the routine inspection of all outflows is underway to ensure they are operating correctly. Debris is being cleared from numerous structures to facilitate smooth water flow, helping to mitigate flooding risks from seasonal rainstorms. The inspection also includes checks for potential blockages in main outflows and pipes, a practice aimed at maintaining steady stormwater drainage.

The department conducts weekly inspections on five main outflows and annual reviews on over 20 others that require less frequent monitoring. These preventative measures are part of Homewood’s ongoing commitment to public safety and infrastructure resilience.
