LAKE COUNTY, Illinois – A fatal motorcycle crash claimed the life of an Illinois man in Lake County Tuesday evening.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a distressing scene on Route 21, just south of Casey Road.

The victim, identified as a 49-year-old Lake Villa resident, was reportedly operating a BMW motorcycle at a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic on Route 21. Eyewitnesses watched as the motorcycle collided with a Hyundai SUV, driven by a 68-year-old woman attempting a left turn from the Independence Grove Dog Park onto southbound Route 21.

The impact sent the motorcycle careening into a curb, ultimately throwing the operator into a guardrail. Despite prompt medical attention, the injuries proved fatal, and the man was pronounced deceased at Advocate Condell Medical Center.

The driver of the Hyundai SUV escaped the incident unharmed.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is now preparing for an autopsy, while the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit diligently investigates the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
