Williamson County, IL – A collaborative operation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has dismantled a methamphetamine trafficking network operating between Missouri and Illinois.
According to reports it began on January 26, 2024, following intensive surveillance of a vehicle identified in an undercover operation, deputies arrested Dawson D. Shell and April R. Switzer for their alleged roles in the cross-state drug distribution.
The surveillance operation tracked the vehicle from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, into various parts of Southern Illinois. A traffic stop in Williamson County led to the discovery of cannabis and methamphetamine, with additional evidence obtained from a cell phone pointing to a substantial operation focused on methamphetamine trafficking.
Shell and Switzer are now facing several charges, including allegations of trafficking and delivery of methamphetamine, as well as possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for further information related to this case or others, promoting the use of the Sheriff’s App for anonymous tips, underscoring the importance of community assistance in tackling such illicit activities.
