Illinois Police Hunt for Suspect Who Fired Gun Near Officer, Crashed into Home

PEORIA, Ill. – A manhunt is underway for a suspect who crashed into an occupied home in Peoria, Illinois early Thursday morning. 

According to Peoria Police it happened at 1:06 a.m. when a chase began after an unknown person fired a gun near a police officer’s parked car in the 4600 block of West War Memorial Drive. 

The police followed the suspect’s car, which eventually collided with a house in the 4000 block of Creighton Terrace. The suspect fled the scene on foot, and a search using a drone and K-9 unit failed to find him. 

Officers later discovered a firearm and suspected cocaine on the scene. 

The incident is currently under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Peoria Police Department.
