Illinois pushes on as Ohio postpones presidential primary

During his daily COVID-19 press conference, when asked if the Governor J.B. Pritzker had second thoughts on the Election following Ohio’s cancellation.

“We have to have our elections continue in my opinion. This is the right thing to do, our democracy needs to go on, we need to elect leaders. If we canceled these elections, when would you have an election? That would be a question I might ask.” Gov. Pritzker said.

Gov. Pritzker told reporters judges at polling places across the state are taking precautions during these unprecedented times.

“Every time somebody goes and votes on a voting machine the people are touching, it’s being wiped down. We have guidance to all the election judges to make sure to maintain social separation. We’re making sure we have sanitizer at locations people are voting at.” Gov. Pritzker announced. Polls are still open today until 7 pm.
