Illinois State Police investigate after Standoff Ends in Fatality in Morris

MORRIS, Ill. – A tense situation unfolded Friday morning when the Morris Police Department responded to a distress call at the 1800 block of Anne Ln. 

According to Morris Police, officers encountered an armed individual in a highly distraught state in the apartment complex’s parking area. The standoff culminated with officers discharging their weapons, leading to the individual’s fatal injury. Authorities have confirmed no threat to the public, and there were no other casualties or injuries reported.

Multiple agencies, including the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District, and Grundy County Emergency Management Agency, are currently at the scene. 

The Illinois State Police and its Crime Scene Investigators have taken over the investigation, with more details to be revealed as they become available.
